Madras Tunes is a story that started in the summer of 2001. A bunch of high-school kids decided to figure out a new way to wreak havoc in a peaceful city neighbourhood - by playing songs, morning, noon and night. They then decided to take it to the next level and so promptly named themselves "Pro-teens" and took their music to various platforms where they delighted the masses and won several competitions on the side. In 2003, Life came calling and the Pro-teens disbanded to pursue their academic responsibilities. 2007 - The Re-Union
The airwaves were filled with the teasers of a brand new band hunt show "Ooh La La" which boasted of the backing of the Mozart of Madras, A.R.Rahman and the SA RE GA MA audio production company. The two who initially assembled "Pro-teens", Karthikeya Murthy and Vijay Jayaprakash, now came together again with a bunch of like-minded musically inclined people. The stage was thus set for the birth of "Madras Tunes". Madras Tunes - The Unveiling
They went on to win the band hunt show and subsequently record an album at A.R.Rahman's AM Studio released under the Sa Re Ga Ma label. Then on, it has been a roller-coaster ride for the band.
